A good interview should help both people decide whether the opportunity is worth exploring. Ask for direct answers about the things that would affect your decision.
- What would I actually do?
Ask about day-to-day work, finding clients, appointments and follow-up.
- What is the business or working arrangement?
Clarify the relationship, responsibilities and expectations. Don’t assume a conventional salaried role.
- What licenses or other requirements apply?
Ask which requirements apply to the work and locations you are considering, and what the process involves.
- What costs would I be responsible for?
Ask about initial and ongoing costs, what is required, and any cancellation or refund terms.
- How does compensation work?
Ask how and when compensation is earned, which conditions apply and what could change it.
- What training and support are available?
Ask what is included, who provides it and how much time to set aside.
- What happens after the interview?
Ask for the next step and take the time you need to review the answers.
